Have you recently bought a property with a Private Water Supply? Or are you looking to buy a property with a Private Water Supply?

Properties that are in rural area’s often have a Private Water Supply. This could be a borehole, spring or well. This is when your property does not have access to mains water, resulting in getting your water from a supply you manage.

Things to consider when you’re buying a property with a Private Water Supply: –
  • Is my system supplying more than one property?

We often find Private Water Supplies, supply more than one property. This is called a “shared water supply”.

  • What sort of supply is it?

A Private Water Supply can be a Borehole, Spring or Well.

  • Does the system already have any filtration equipment in place?

Sometimes we find equipment already in place, however this is not always the case. In this instance we would need to book for a recent water analysis, or arrange for sampling.

  • Does the previous (or current) owner/s have any paperwork on the supply?

It is advised to ask for paperwork for the supply from the previous owner. This should be, as a minimum, a water analysis dated less than 12 months ago.

  • Has the system been regularly serviced to the manufacturers recommendations?

In order to maintain efficiency of the system, regular maintenance is required. This may be per 12 monthly intervals, depending on the system.

Our Services help prevent the sort of issues such as this caused by iron in the supply (as seen below).
We would use our Iron and Manganese Reduction on this issue.

What happens when you choose to go with Prosep Private Water Supply Services: –

When you contact us to check our services, we will request as much information as you can give about your system. Sometimes this will require a visit to site to check the installation. We always like to take a raw water sample so that we know the condition of the water, prior to treatment. This sample also allows us to check that the correct system has been installed.
We will then service the installed system and as a matter of course, take a treated water sample. We can then give you the assurance from an accredited laboratory, that your water is safe (or not) to drink. If the test fails, we will advise on changes to be made to get a “pass” on water quality.

What happens on a new installation?

First thing is a raw water analysis. Based on the results we will design a system for you and advise you on the basic requirements that we need to install. Our designs are always to provide a potable supply (either for human or animal consumption). If you agree to proceed, we will then arrange a date for the install.
Once installed, we will take a treated water sample to ensure your quality of water. This will be a report from an accredited laboratory.
